Schoenfeld is best known for his reportage of global humanitarian projects and social commentary tableau art. His images have been widely featured in print and can be found in galleries, museum and private collections in the USA, Asia and Europe. His elaborately staged tableau productions have been featured segments on BRAVO Television, MBC Network Television and the subject of several documentary films.
Six monographs have been published: Brittle Glory: The Face of Change, a collection of intimate street portraits taken in the Cuban countryside and the Kurdish territories of South Eastern Turkey, Surface Tension, a collection of portraits and impressions of the female form (Challenging...photos that treat the body simultaneously as sentient organism and as sculpture-voluptuously charged says Peter Frank, Art Critic, L.A. Weekly),Through the Eyes of Man erotic, revisionist, operatic interpretations of biblical lore and both English and Korean language editions of There Are No Answers,If the Questions Aren't Asked .
Photographed in Vietnam, Almost Perfect chronicles a volunteer American surgical team and their tireless work to help children with disfiguring injuries and congenital conditions. Great Circle Books in cooperation with American Photo Magazine has published Mission to India, a collaboration between Schoenfeld and respected journalist Rex Weiner. This heart rending new book chronicles the heroism and dedication of a Rotaplast volunteer surgical team in Karaikal, India.
Sharing the joy in life, was the subject of Through This World But Once in which Schoenfeld chronicled the work of a clown, from the group Clowns Without Borders visiting hospitals and health clinics in Addis Ababa and village Ethiopia. This book was published by Great Circle Books as part of the Eye to I series co-sponsored by Hewlett Packard and A&I Color
Schoenfeld's portraits of Hollywood luminaries first appeared in the 1999 show L.A.’s BEST PHOTOGRAPHERS. have been featured in a variety of motion picture industry publications including Screen International and Film Journal International.
Schoenfeld's work is part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea, Cirque du Soleil and the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission.
Schoenfeld resides in Southern California. He is a member of the Santa Barbara Museum and Los Angeles County Museum Photo-Arts Commissions.
